Gaddi's - The Peninsula
Today, I have a very very nice lunch at Gaddi's.
I believe most of you know about this French restaurant located on the 1/F of The Peninsula at TST. Frankly, I don't know anything about this restaurant until the moment I got the invitation. (Sorry for being "Goo Lau Gwa Men").
I didn't know much about French cuisine, except for foie gras. Luckily, I didn't need to make any decision on what to order out of the menu. The head chef is a friend of the boss I had lunch with. So, the chef made the decision for us and cooked whatever it is good and fresh today. That's the most authentic Chef's Menu I have ever had.
1. Mini croissant with onion and bacon, beer bread -- soft inside, crispy outside
2. foie gras with black truffle -- very rich in taste, served with a slice of crunchy bread
3. Deep fried frog leg with egg custard -- cannot imagine frog leg can be such a good match with egg custard.
4. Beef cheek with beef dumpling -- have never eaten any beef cheek. usually, ppl will only talk about eating fish cheek. Highly recommended. Beef cheek got a very tender, smooth texture.
5. Salmon fillet -- according to the chef, the fillet was only slightly marinated, and smoked over oak wood for a little while to gain the flavour of it and the soaked in olive oil. Very nice.
6. Main course - Pork belly, with black sausage (with pig blood, liver, etc inside) -- the taste is rich and strong but not awkward at all. Tender, tasty, not fat at all.
7. Orange Peel Custard Souffle with orange sherbet inside -- Hot hot souffle with a lump of cold cold sherbet inside.. the best souffle I have ever had.... should be the best in town...
In conclusion, I had an excellent eating experience from today's lunch. The best I have ever had on western cuisine.
